Pinkberry arrives in the Philippines

The first ever Pinkberry store opened in the Philippines last December 07, 2011 at Greenbelt 5, Makati City. Pinkberry introduces to us Filipinos the fresh flavors and sophisticated style for which the brand is known.

Pinkberry is premium frozen yogurt made with real nonfat yogurt and fresh nonfat milk. It is made only of the highest quality ingredients and is the perfect balance of tangy and sweet, resulting in a light, refreshing, and craveable taste.

Ron Graves, Pinkberry CEO, says, "We're excited to introduce Pinkberry's one-of-a-kind experience to the Philippines we are particularly thrilled to be opening our first store in the Philippines and Asia."

And so, Pinkberry is finally here in the Philippines, with six distinct flavors to choose from: the signature original flavor (a sweet and tart yogurt with refreshing finish), pomegranate (a bold and tangy flavor made with 100 percent pure pomegranate juice), green tea (slightly sweet with earthy flavor note), chocolate (rich and indulgent), mango (fruity and light flavor made with mango puree for a soothing finish), and watermelon (crisp and refreshing flavor perfect for summer).

Customers can personalize every Pinkberry yogurt experience with any combination of delicious toppings like the daily fresh cut fruits, premium dry toppings (organic gummy bears, toasted crunchy almonds, etc), luxe toppings (peanut butter crunch, swirly whip, etc), and liquid toppings (pom puree, italian caramel, etc). Each topping is selected with the highest quality standards.

Besides their premium yogurts, Pinkberry carries fresh fruit bowl, fresh fruit parfait, and smoothies (green tea and banana, or you can customize your own smoothie just how you like it to be).

Last night some of us bloggers were invited to try out Pinkberry. One of our activities was "Create Your Own Signature Pinkberry Mix." At first I was really confused to what I will concoct, because honestly, I really wanted to put all the things I want in the cup, but that will surely be messy despite being really yummy.

I opted to do this instead (see photo below). I call it the Pinkberry Fiesta, Pinkberry signature original flavor with strawberries, banana, pineapple, watermelon, mangoes, mixed nuts and coconut. "As we welcome Pinkberry to the Philippines, it is just apt that we create an original Pinoy flavor, rich with the island paradise goodness and freshness the Philippines has to offer to the world - fresh fruits, and a smile," I explained. Guess what, I won, together with Gel's "Angel's Choice." Hehe :) Thank you Pinkberry!

After that we were taught by the staff of Pinkberry how to swirl, or prepare Pinkberry yogurt in a cone. It seems easy, but trust me it's quite hard for first-timers. It was hard to perfect the "pouty peak" or alfalfa, as I would call it. Look at my creation. I was not able to make the yogurt stand. I tried... I pouted. ;)

Try Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf's Frozen Swirl on the House

I've tried Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf's Frozen Swirl once since it debuted in the Philippine market. I tried the Affogato or the Caramel Affogato, I'm not really sure. The yogurt's good, but the combination of the espresso and the yogurt really didn't mix well for me. I think it's time to try another flavor, and maybe it will be better now. Here's a coupon you can use this Sunday. Try CBTL's Frozen Swirl on the house. :)

Bonifacio Global City Food Tour - Zao Vietnamese Food, TGIF and Yoh-Gurt Froz

IMG_4240IMG_4235IMG_4230

Zao is one of the Vietnamese restaurants in the Philippines I want to eat in because they have good food with relatively affordable prices. They offered us fresh and fried spring rolls, rice noodle soup or Pho, and some barbecued pork, beef and shrimp satay or skewers.

IMG_4264IMG_4254IMG_4250

After eating in Zao, we went to TGIFridays to try some of their famous food. They served us with nachos and a salsa dip, a pica-pica platter with their famous Jack Daniel's Chicken, Buffalo Wings and Quesedilla. I instantly fell in love with their Jack Daniel's Chicken. The flavorful and strong taste was there, without the alcohol, which is cool.

We headed to Hobbes and Landes right across the restaurant for our dessert - Frozen Yogurt from Yoh-gurt Froz, a brand that's carried in most Hobbes and Landes stores. Yoh-gurt Froz' yogurt tastes creamy and sweet. They have a variety of toppings, which the customers can pick from. The price is relatively worth what you are getting. I recommend this to those who want yogurt that tastes nearly like ice cream.

Bonifacio Global City Food Tour with Ivan Man Dy

Last Saturday, April 24, 2010, I joined Ivan Mandy's Bonifacio Global City Food Tour in the Fort Bonifacio grounds. We covered 3 locations, namely, Serendra, Bonifacio High Street and The Fort in a guided historical, fact-filled, and yummy, tummy-filling tour around 7 restaurants (see photo below), which graciously accommodated us participants and bloggers.

This is one of the signage/posters that was put up all around the Bonifacio Global City grounds. It is one of the events of the BGC in promoting arts and culture and the area itself to families, friends and to people in general.

IMG_4188IMG_4218IMG_4222

Here are the restaurants we went to. First was at Cupcakes by Sonja and Miss Desserts, then we went to Zao, TGIF, Fro-Yo, Pasto and Establishment. I enjoyed every bit of the food and the facts that came with it. Today, I know that they'll be having a part 2 of the same event. I hope the participants now will enjoy it as much as we did.

I will post about the restaurants and the food we ate in a separate post. :)

Red Mango's Strawberry Yogurt and other promos

IMG_3855_2

The other day, while I was in SM Megamall, I decided to try out Red Mango's relatively new Strawberry flavored Yogurt. As usual, I like my yogurt, or almost anything, with nuts, especially almonds. I found the flavor of the yogurt a bit strong, and really sweet. I guess, after trying Fling in Tagaytay, I am more picky with the sweetness of my Froyo. I would rather stick to the original frozen yogurt if I were you.

IMG_3857_2

Red Mango Philippines also introduces it's coolest summer duo, the Green Tea Frozen Yogurt on Shaved Ice (Php 130) and the Banana Almond Waffle topped with Original Frozen Yogurt (Php 125). It also has other promos in store for you. If you buy 500 pesos worth of the Original Frozen Yogurt, you get one photo booth coupon. Please see schedule of photo booths in different Red Mango stores in the Philippines.

It's summer, so have a Fling!

Before heading to our destination, Taal View Heights, in Talisay Batagas for the Philippine Blog Awards strat-planning, we stopped over in Tagaytay to indulge in a semi-food-trip and glutton over Bag of Beans, Fling and Buon Giorno over at Cliffhouse in Tagaytay City.

Bag of Beans was our first destination, our "pre-pre-lunch," as my fellow bloggers suggested. I just had a cup of brewed coffee and hash brown. After Bag of Beans, we headed to Cliffhouse to have Fling, which is famous for its frozen yogurt.
IMG_3696IMG_3698IMG_3695IMG_3701IMG_3702IMG_3699

I had a casual (Php 85) Fling with apples on top (+Php25) which costs Php 110 in total. The apples were sort of Flambé, minus the alcohol, and placed on top of the Froyo. The base yogurt wasn't as sweet as all the froyos I have tasted (which is good for me), while the sauteed apples were a bit tangy, which contrasted with the yogurt. It was a yummy dessert - I love it! :)

IMG_3704

This was what Juned got - the topping is quite like Mochi, or what the saleslady says to be like "bilo-bilo," or rice balls.
