Manang's Chicken started out from the family dining table of Jill Gerodias Borja, the President and CEO of Manag's Chicken. Their family cook, whom they fondly call manang, would always whip up the bestselling "sweet, salty, crispy, juicy chicken" during family occasions. It went out to be offered in weekend markets, then finally, starting as a store in Ortigas, after it slowly gained its following due to its unique flavor. Now, they have 12 branches all over the Metro.
Their signature double deep fried crispy chicken with Manang's secret soy garlic sauce is a must try because it's the culprit, the one which started it all. You can choose from an original, mild spicy or extra spicy sauce.
If you're not into chicken, they have just released their new food item, the Garlic Pork rice meal. "Meat-lovers rejoice! Big juicy pork chop deeply fried until perfectly crispy and topped with their special garlic topping.

Paris Délice: Food Made in France!
Paris Délice, an alternative fast food restaurant situated along Juno St. corner Makati Avenue, carries authentic French food, which include breads, pastries, sandwiches, quiches and salads, at reasonable prices. I was invited to try out the newly opened restaurant a week ago, so I went with my friend. After tasting what they had to offer, we were impressed with the gastronomic experience we had!

Florian and Thibault, French co-owners of Paris Délice greeted us to their simple yet cozy restaurant. They explained to us the story of how the restaurant came to be, and how they prepare and present their food to the public - made with ingredients imported from Paris, and made fresh out of the oven daily. With very high regard for quality and authenticity, Paris Délice offers French food as if they were made in France.

One of their best sellers, and my personal favorite, is the Le Lillois. It is one of their yummy sandwiches, made of chicken, bacon, mayonnaise, tomatoes, lettuce. A perfect healthy combination I can eat everyday for lunch. The bread is just so perfectly made, with the right ingredients complementing the taste of the whole sandwich. Not to mention, the baguette was to die for (I've never tasted anything of this quality in the Philippines, until now).

After the sandwich, we tried their Croissant and their Le petit pain au chocolat, and their popular Choquettes. Both the croissant and the le petit pain au chocolat were really fresh, soft, and tasty. The dark chocolate and the bread go well together, while the les choquettes, French cream puffs covered with crunchy nuggets of sugar, then baked until golden-brown perfect, were great with a cup of coffee or hot chocolate, which they owners said to be both sourced locally.

I really love the place! In fact, the next day, I brought with me Pauline, our French trainee at the office to try if it will pass the "French taste." I know she was being home-sick and this might cheer her up, so we pushed through. Guess what, she was all smiles and really happy the moment she saw what was behind the glassed shelves. She wanted to order EVERYTHING :)

I ordered the Tomato Cream Soup with baguette (you just can't get enough of this wonderfully made bread), spinach quiche, and fresh lemon juice. She ordered a sandwich, and Coke. We had desserts after - Chausson aux Pommes (Apple turnover) for her, and Triangle aux Amandes (Almond triangle) for me. We were both happy and satisfied with our food!

She was extremely happy, really, she wanted to write a letter to the owners. We asked for a paper, she brought out a pen, and she wrote them...in French, of course. She expressed how happy she was eating authentic French food in Manila, after more than a month without it.

Paris Délice is open every day from 7am to 10pm. :) You may visit and add their Facebook page here. Check out Un soir à Paris Délice: Authentic French food at the heart of Manila for more information.

Chowking's OH!some OH!range Chicken
Chowking launched its newest oh so delicious, oh so yummy, the OH!some OH!range Chicken at the Chowking Fort Bonifacio (Rizal Drive) with bloggers and cosplayers in attendance.

Literally, the whole Chowking was turned into the hottest dance club last night as Jericho Rosales, the new celebrity product endorser of the Chowking Orange Chicken, taught everyone the dance steps to the "Chicken Dance."

Hosting with Echo was Chef Rosebud Benitez, one of my celebrity chef idols who hosts QUICKFIRE at QTV, and Ginggay dela Merced.
I am sure you are wondering how this dance is done. So here is Jericho Rosales, more known as Echo in showbiz, teaching how to dance the Oh!some Ohrange Chicken Dance. Also, Chowking President Erwin Elechicon dances with Jericho Rosales in the next video.
In attendance was Alodia Gosiengfiao, famous internet icon and cosplayer; and other cosplayers like Megatron, War Machine and this cute little girl.

In line with this new campaign marks the 25th year of Chowking, one of the best Chinese fast food chain in the Philippines. It started in 1985 with its store at the Makati Commercial Center. Right now it has more than 400 branches not only in the Philippines but also in the US, UAE, Indonesia, and the Middle East.

The Orange Chicken costs Php 69 for the Rice Chow Meal with a generous portion of Orange Chicken and rice; Php 99 for the Lauriat, which includes crispy noodles, Chicharap and Buchi; and Php 125 for the Salo-Salo set ideal for sharing.

Singing Your McDonald's Order
I wonder who would dare to try and sing their order in any fast food chain in the Philippines?
"Random Acts, Island Styles," the newest project of Family Life Education Pasefika (FLEP), a pacific health organization based in Auckland, New Zealand, sang their order at a McDonald branch to the tune of...Mraz' I'm Yours.
The group performs random acts of drama & music out and about in the community, using various media including music, drama, dance and arts to enhance dialogue with Pacific communities with which they work. FLEP works in intermediate, secondary & tertiary institutions promoting a positive view of sexual health & well being.
All "Random Acts" concepts are developed and performed by the FLEP educators.

24-Hour Friends
No one will argue when I say that the 2 biggest competing fast food companies in the Philippines are McDonald's and Jollibee. One American, one Filipino. One foreign, one local. And who would have thought that they can see eye to eye, or in this case, shoulder to shoulder?
I saw these photos from Kenrick Nocom's (my HS classmate) multiply site. It was their Planning Seminar, and of course, no one could think and work with empty stomachs, so they decided to order from McDonald's, Jollibee and KFC. Unfortunately, or fortunately, McDo and Jollibee arrived at the same time. And the rest was history. :3
