Istituto Culinario opens to create Culinary Maestros

Istituto Culinario is the Philippines' newest, most innovative, culinary school which is committed to nurturing true "Culinary Maestros," - professional, creative and passionate all-around chefs. Istituto Culinario offers a ladderized 2-year Culinary Diploma (Culinary Arts and Food Service Management) program, leading to a full 4-year Bachelors Degree (Bachelor of Science in Food Management, Major in Food Service).

The two-year program provides students with key culinary techniques, essential kitchen skills, and a comprehensive introduction to cuisines of the world. The course at Istituto Culinario culminates with a 1,000-hour apprenticeship in a professional restaurant/ hotel kitchen, after which, the graduates may continue on with their Bachelor of Science degree, or commence their careers.

Among the Chef-instructors of Istituto Culinario are big names in the Culinary and food service industries. Its program head is Chef Chris Bautista, who is accompanied by Chef Jerome Valencia, Chef JA Ventura, Chef Ching Yoingco, Chef JP Anglo, Chef Hames Antolin as International Consultant, and Chef Cyrille Soenen of CiÇou as Primary Industry Parter. To optimize learning environment, Istituto observes a strict student-teacher ratio of 15:1.

The training of the Istituto Culinario students will include an internship program in Celebrity Chef Cyrille Soenen's Brasserie Cicou, both located at the ground floor of the OB Montessori building in Greenhills, San Juan.

The new Istituto Culinario campus boasts of unique state-of-the-art technology and features such as a sous vide machine, 4 kitchen laboratories with equipment carefully selected and designed to conform to world class and five star standards, demo laboratory with a state-of-the-art Rational Cooking Center and broadcast quality cameras, 4 lecture rooms with complete A/V facilities, library with a vast collection of traditional, online, and latest industry periodicals and resources.

Istituto Culinario is not an Italian school, but however, it will instill the disciplines and prepared environment built upon the foundations of the famous Italian educational system developed by Maria Montessori. It is a new school that was formerly known as the OB Montessori Culinary College, established by Ambassador Preciosa Soliven back in 1995.
