Mint Craving

Chocolate Mint (Php 98/slice) of Annabel Lee Gourmet and Finest Cheesecake Last month, I was hanging out with my friends at Promenade Greenhills when I saw this cake at Annabel Lee’s, and since then, I really wanted to try it. And it was not until today, when I was with my family, that I got to try it.

It was wonderfully plated, as expected, simple, with chocolate and strawberry syrup drizzled like art beside, topped with green sprinkles, whip cream and a chocolate wafer-stick. I had a little hard time cutting through with my fork. It had this rubbery gelatin-like chocolate first layer, the second and third layers was mousse-like, while the bottom had this thin chocolate cake-y bottom, which I really enjoyed. It also lack the mint-y aftertaste, which failed my cravings for it. I expected it to be better. I think that it didn't give me what I am craving for, and it's not worth that much.

But since I am kind-of dieting for tomorrow's big food tour, I had my parents and my lola finish the cake after I gave it several bites. :3

SPOTted at Trinoma

Yesterday I was with A, P and Pi at Trinoma. It was the first leg of the SPOT.ph's Exclusive Bloggers Tour. We were with the Green group with Karl Bustamante, Community Editor of SPOT, "a savvy city guide that's proudly local which aims to make city living easier by helping you find the cool places to eat, chill, dine, and play."

It's their first time to attend such event. It's my second (I attended the Trinoma-Yehey Bloggers' Food Tour last January 10) :3 I can say this one by SPOT is better just because it has more restaurants, and they are more accommodating and fun.

..with Pats and Ainna..

..and one very hungry Pi! (or at this point, very full?)

Although we were required to go to all 19 participating restaurants in Trinoma to have them sign our SPOT PASS, some of us, didn't try the food from the other restaurants. (I was really full by the time we were at Five Cows. I reserved space for the other restaurants.)

In order: Ruby Tuesday + Cyma + Holy Cow Chop House + Jack's Loft + Red Box + Bubba Gump + TGIF + Italianni's + Fish & Co. + Cafe Breton + Starbucks + Five Cows + Abe + Haiku + Madison Grill + La Maison + Recipes + Cold Rock + Krispy Kreme

After everything you've eaten, you'll be in heaven (because the food is plenty and yummy), but dragged down to earth just right after (because you're that full, and you feel like throwing up already?).

If you ask me what's the best part of it all? Simple. We were served the best dishes from only the best restaurants! See you guys at the second leg - Serendra and Bonifacio High Street get ready for us on Monday! We shall complete the other 2 SPOT PASSES (Serendra and High Street) to get our surprise from SPOT! :3

I finally met Maki Eduardo of noneed4ink.com. Other people who stood out were Jester of jesterinexile.blogspot.com and Nina of justwandering.org. I saw BA Racoma and Tita Dine also! :)

Forbidden Kingdom was Oki Oki :3

We planned to watch Forbidden Kingdom today at Trinoma. But since a lot of unforeseen things happened, and an original attendance of 7 just became 3. I met up with Ainna hours before and we ate lunch at Oki Oki, this Japanese resto right adjacent to Max Restaurant at the ground floor.

As I am really indecisive when it comes to ordering food for others, I just let Ainna do the picking. We ordered this Crazy Maki (Php 270). It was a lot larger than the normal maki you see anywhere. It was fried or breaded on the outside. The inside was just plain - seaweed, rice - just like an ordinary maki, but more of those two I just mentioned. It was topped off by kani salad. It was something new for me, and I think this is one of their better dishes. Caution though, you wouldn't want put the whole thing in your mouth, it doesn't fit.

And since I forgot to charge my digital camera, I had to use my cellphone for the next pictures. Sadly. We also got their Tofu Steak (Php 125). It had pork, lots of onions and other vegetables with it. I would say that it's nothing new, nothing spectacular about it, but it was actually better than most I've tried.

The next dish is the Yakitori Chicken (Php 110). It was grilled chicken in skewers, with this vegetable. Ainna says it's leek. The sauce was great. The chicken was soft and tender. It had this lettuce with it, for presentation.
Lastly, we ordered Yaki Soba (Php 225). It had this moving thingy, Bonito Flakes (fish flakes - thanks Joey for the edit), on top. Ainna's comment on this dish was that it was like Pansit Canton. Truly, it looks like it. But it had all these seafood and vegetables in it, so that's good. The dish tasted okay. But I like this dish the least among everything.

After lunch, she decided she wants to eat dessert, so we went to Razon's to buy their famous halo-halo. We saw Neil, Harroun and Maxi having a 3-way date. (yihee) :3

We headed to the movie house and met up with Merryan for the movie. I liked it. Even though people said that it wasn't that good, I think it's one of the movies I would love to watch again, just because of the fight scenes and the humorous twists. Don't get me wrong, it's something I would watch because it's just fun to watch it, not because of the story though.

Afternoon Stroll

Something struck me just after I boarded an FX. I was commuting from my house to U.P., and since I really can't write while on board a car, I just scribbled 2 lines: "Masarap magliwaliw" and "Kumapit sa kasalukuyan" on my notebook.

I went back to those 2 lines now, and I am saddened that I lost that spark. Sayang! I did my best with what I have.

Pagkawili

Masarap magliwaliw at
magpakawala sa iyong sarili.
Walang nakaaalam.

Maggayak para sa umagang hinaharap,
Magpunta sa gustong marating,
at gawin ang inaasam-asam.

Ngunit kumapit ka sa kasalukuyan.
Huwag kang bibitiw sa pagkakahawak,
baka ka mawala nang tuluyan.

Ong's Association

This is the time of the year when we go to the Ong's Association (Lam Wa) to eat and "get an award". It was always in President's in Binondo, and since it's currently being renovated, it was held at Emerald Garden along Roxas Blvd, Manila.

The host is such a stand up comedian; he's been there ever since I was Grade 7? He never fails to sing, ask us questions and give Ang Bao for those who can answer them (uhh, the questions he asks every year never change..) Food's the best, as always. But I think what's better is what I am getting every year, Ang Bao for my grades :3

Beating Boredom

Went with my shobe to Promenade because she had a meeting, small group. And since I was alone and was tired from walking and looking around, I just went to Sean's house to hang out. Caught up with some stuff...oh, and I learned about Annie Liebovitz, and her amazing photography, and recreation shots of some Disney films with some big shot Hollywood actors. (Snow White, Alice in Wonderland and Sleeping Beauty among others)

He also lent me 4 new graphic novels. :3

1. Jeff Smith's BONE: Out From Boneville
2. G. Willow Wilson's CAIRO: A Graphic Novel
3. Allan Heinberg and Jim Cheung's YOUNG AVENGERS
4. Grant Morrison's ALL STAR SUPERMAN
So yey, I guess I have a lot of stuff to read and watch over summer.

Episode 14 :3

This conversation, between the main character Lelouch and Shirley, struck me when I was watching the film. This is the part where Lelouch (Zero) used his geass to make her forget about knowing his true identity, and things that have happened. In the film, it was shown that Zero was responsible for the death of her father. After finding out Zero's true identity, she became vulnerable, and was coerced to try and kill Lelouch. This is the part where she was visiting the grave of her father, and seeing Lelouch there as well.

Shirley: Did you lose a family member too?

Lelouch: No not a family member. A friend. Yes.. Probably... a precious one.

Shirley: I see.

Lelouch: I only realized it the for the first time, after losing her. how often her smile saved me. We can no onger ague or laugh like that together?

Shirley: Did you like that person?

Lelouch: I dont know anymore.

Shirley: The morning will come. Up until now, I didn't know what I came here for. But maybe I came to put an end to something. Even though there are a lot of things you cant forget, and a lot of sad things too. the morning will still come, right? So there's no need to overdo it by bearing them in your heart.

Lelouch: Thats right. I feel the same. Thanks for all you have done.

What's up with me?

I really don't watch Anime; last I've seen was Dragon Ball Z (see?) But lately, I've been addicted to it, and my brother couldn't believe it. Boredom? (haha!) I've finished Season 1 of Gundam 00 and it totally rocks! And now, I've been watching Code Geass all day long. Yeah. I really think it has a good story; worth watching despite weakness on some aspects. I'll update you and blog about it after I've done watching Season 1 :) Thanks Pats for hooking me with these stuff, I really don't know what else to do. xD Off to bed.

quiet confidence

amidst all the noise, all i have with me is quiet confidence.

behind the silence should be a driving force not to be taken lightly. it is fueled by dreams and pain, healed fractures and revelations. the determination all lies behind the missing sound. the courage to challenge the blinding noise is under the lack of it.

the challenge is here, and the quiet is now.

Summer Time

So I have decided not to take summer classes, despite having to work as registrationa assistant in AS 101 for the next Tuesday to Friday. I guess that'll be better since I haven't got anything to do here at home for now. I also get to hang out with the other RAs and actually "go to school without studying." :)

Yesterday I bought books at StarMall Shaw Blvd. I got them for just 99 pesos for 2 books. Nice eh? I wouldn't have thought that I would be able to find such good stuff there.

Warrior Is A Child

Lately I've been winning battles left and right
But even winners can get wounded in the fight
People say that I'm amazing
I'm strong beyond my years
But they don't see inside of me
I'm hiding all the tears

They don't know that I come running home when I fall down
They don't know who picks me up when no one is around
I drop my sword and cry for just a while
(Look up for His smile)
'Coz deep inside this armor
The warrior is a child
