Department of Tourism (DOT) Secretary Ramon R. Jimenez, Jr., together with Philippine Travel Agencies Association (PTAA) President Aileen Clemente, Travel Tour Expo 2012 Chairman John Paul Cabalza, Philippine Airlines (PAL) President Jaime Bautista and a Citibank representative opening the 19th Philippine Travel Tour Expo 2012 at the SMX, SM Mall of Asia.
What to expect at the 19th Philippine Travel Tour Expo 2012? Booths from airlines, tour operators, resorts, hotels, travel associations, food establishments, which offer packages, tours, rates that are unparalleled and only available at the Travel Tour Expo!
While going around and looking at the event, I took shots of the stalls, but mostly of the booths of the Department of Tourism (Tourism Promotions Board, DoT Bicol Region V, DoT Davao Region XI, DoT NCR, Duty Free)
Tourism Secretary Ramon Jimenez acknowledge the unwavering support of the PTAA, and its contribution to the industry. “With regular members from the travel agencies and inbound tour operators and allied members from the hotel, food and transport providers and associations. PTAA’s span of influence in the marketing sphere cannot be understated. For decades, it has supported the Department’s programs particularly in growing the tourism industry,” he said.
More than 27 million Filipinos traveled domestically last year, and the DoT hopes to encourage more people to travel and have fun, in order to help support our local industry and the economy.
Secretary Jimenez adds, “I really firmly believe that the growth of the tourism industry domestically is what is driving the excitement over international tourism today. We understand more, as a people now, the value of travel and the value of fun in travel, and that is why we are very interested as a people to participate in projecting it across the Philippines.”
Meanwhile, PTAA President and Travel Tour Expo 2012 Co-Chairperson Aileen Clemente expressed that “the Travel Tour Expo is very unique this year that we have embassies participating with us, particularly the Japan embassy.” She adds that “PTAA believes that this is our way of helping international relations, and we are looking forward to tourism through Japan to Philippines, and vice versa.”
The 2012 Travel Tour Expo hopes to surpass last year’s 60,000 visitors who flocked the event with the hope and interest to find the best travel deals in the Philippines and abroad. It continuously tries to deliver an even more special show every year presenting local and international destinations, cultural presentations and discounted travel packages.
With the Travel Tour Expo, Secretary Jimenez hopes that “more Filipinos get to travel around the Philippines because there is really so much to see in our 7,107 islands to discover and experience, places like any other in the world.”
