Travelling to Paradise in the Philippines this Summer

As we say in the Department of Tourism, "It's More Fun in the Philippines!" And this is so true, I believe, because of the unparalleled beauty the Philippines offers to both local and foreign tourists - destinations with picturesque coastlines, scenic natural landscapes, clear blue waters, and warm hospitable people. In fact, there are a lot of beaches, 7,107 islands, to choose from.

And since it is summer time once again, I am sure you're wondering where's the next beach destination you should go to. In my travels around the Philippines, I have been to a lot of beaches and destinations, but one has stood out for me - Palawan.

Besides Puerto Princesa Underground River, there's more to what lies in the laid back and provincial charm of the city. Well, it just takes a chartered plane and boat ride to take you to a "secluded spot cradled between limestone cliffs intricately carved by the forces of the earth and water." It is where the "mountains meet the sea and where the shore is just as stunning as the hidden lagoons."

21. Apulit Island Resort - West Beach

The place you should check out is El Nido Resorts in Palawan — a three-island destination (Apulit, Miniloc and Lagen) that takes you to an eco-touristic sojourn within one of the country’s most beautiful and unspoiled natural wonders. They all bear the Philippine’s tropical trademark, but each has its own distinctive features that stand out from the rest.

Apulit Island - Features 50 over the water cottages. It is a choice destination getaway for both adventurous and novice travelers. It is set within a pristine cove with a panoramic view of Palawan's horizon. It is really far from the nightlife that most beachcombers end up in. You will be taken to a resort with an endless stretch of white-sand beach lined with coconut trees. You can go diving, swim with blue-spotted sting-rays, sail across out of the island's widest coves, or simply enjoy the day on the beachfront. Apulit Island Resort is the newest eco-resort in Taytay, Palawan under the El Nido Resorts group.

Miniloc Island
- Located on the northern tip of Palawan. It is El Nido's eco-adventure playground, so to speak. It's tucked within a beautiful backdrop of mountains, limestone cliffs, caves, lagoons, that are centrally located to access the numerous activities the island offers. "From island-hopping and sight-seeing to spelunking and kayaking through the most picturesque lagoons, Miniloc Island takes you through a definitive tropical adventure unmatched anywhere in the country."

16.El Nido Resorts Activities - Team building at the Big Lagoon

Lagen Island - It's nestled between a lush 4-hectare forest and calm lagoon. It is a tranquil private island that offers an unparalleled experience of pampering and relaxation with its luxurious accommodations, private gourmet dinners, and its signature hilot massage. It is set against a backdrop of the most breathtaking, scenic and dramatic El Nido sunsets, forests and limestone cliffs. It also serves as a sanctuary for a wide variety of flora and fauna, where guests could intimately observe these endemic creatures in their natural habitat.

Whether it’s sailing across the island’s most beautiful cove, conquering Palawan’s caves, or exploring the most beautiful lagoons, you get to enjoy it all in the midst of the most picturesque tropical settings.

  2. Hi Mr. Ong,

Thank you for your article! The official El Nido Resorts Flickr account is here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/elnidoresorts

    Some corrections:
    1) The photo of the Miniloc Island Resort boardwalk is old. We renovated and enlarged the Pantalan area some years ago :)

    2) We no longer offer introductory dives and highly discourage the feeding of fish with unnatural food such as bread.
