Shopping with the BPI My ePrepaid MasterCard

I was part of the Bank of the Philippine Islands beta testers of the new BPI My ePrepaid MasterCard, a reloadable "prepaid" credit card, which enables everyone, even uncreditcardable people, to enjoy the benefits of having your own credit card. Now everyone can shop online, book flights, and do a lot more with the BPI My ePrepaid MasterCard.

For now, you can load it up with a limit of 10,000 pesos, but BPI is working to increase the limit. My friends like the idea that you can easily apply for it, everyone who applies gets approved. It has no hidden charges, and no maintaining balance required to keep it. :)

And so, I tried using the BPI My ePrepaid MasterCard for myself to see how easy shopping can be done using this prepaid credit card. Guess what, it is really easy as 1, 2, 3.

First trial was with the new BPI Online deal site - Deal Mania, which is exclusive to BPI Card holders. Among the many good deals in the site, I chose something which interests me the most, which is, you have guessed it right, FOOD. :)

THE DEAL: 52% Off Manila Hotel Fine Dining. International and Local Cuisine at Mabuhay Palace + 50% Discount Pass on the next visit for only Php 940.

Valid on a special set menu: Three Kinds of Dimsum, West Lake Soup with Minced Fish, Honey Chicken, Fried Pork Belly with Salt and Pepper Sauce, Fried Fish Fillet in Thai Chili Sauce, Pork and Shrimp Chopsuey, Seafood Fried Noodles and Almond Bean Curd. Also valid on 50% discount on lunch/dinner buffet for two at Cafe Ilang-Ilang, 50% discount on meal for two at Mabuhay Palace on your next visit (Valid until Dec. 31, 2011 not valid on long weekends, holidays and special occasions).

Navigating through the DEALMANIA.PH website and buying from there was just a breeze. You just need to select the deal you want, and go through the steps in purchasing, which includes typing in your BPI My ePrepaid MasterCard number and Card Validation Code (CVC/CVV2) number.

After that, I was on to the next shopping destination to try out the BPI My ePrepaid MasterCard. As my friends, and some of my online readers, would have known, I really have a hard time looking for shoes that fit me, since my feet are size 13. Luckily, with a credit card, such as the BPI My ePrepaid MasterCard, I am now able to shop online, specifically in online stores which sell large-sized shoes.

I clicked 6PM.COM, and bought this pair of Adidas running shoes. I had them shipped to a US address, courtesy of my aunt's mom (Thank you!!!), who will bring it with her when she visits the Philippines for Christmas this December. Thank you so so so much! :)

Lastly, Cebu Pacific Air had an Php 11 on all international and domestic flights last 11/11/11, and I could not pass up on an opportunity to travel to a new destination on such a cheap price tag. I booked for a solo flight to Busan, South Korea for September next year. It will be my first time to go to Korea. I am both excited and nervous, because, if ever, I will be traveling alone (if none of my cousins or friends decide to join me on this trip), also for the first time.

With the BPI My ePrepaid MasterCard, now everyone can. Now, everyone can book easily to their next Philippine or international destination when there are promos by the airlines, or shop online through your favorite deal sites, and online stores. You can now easily shop with the money that you have (if you are the budget conscious type who doesn't want to spend the money you do not have...like me.)

  1. WOW! This is pretty awesome. I couldn't book a flight for the last CebuPac promo because I didn't have my own credit card yet (huhuhu), so this is just so useful for a student like me. :D

    Thanks for the tip!

  10. Yup worked for me as well, Linked it with my paypal, and bought a light from dinodirect.. Success!

BTW BPI CS agents no nothing of the paypal procedure, and how it works, very much like when EON was starting out.

I should say this is a good alternative to EON

TIP - BPI CS agents don't know a thing about the paypal process etc, very much like EON when they started out, but I hope this will be an EON alternative

  16. for the first time you received your bpi e-credit you can't link it yet to paypal cause the moment you loaded it, it takes 1 banking day for your account to be loaded at the same time it will get activated as well... verify first if your credit card has the load then you can link it to paypal... it works for me... hope this help..

  17. Got my BPI My eprepaid yesterday after 5 banking days of processing. I also loaded Php200 yesterday and it was just loaded today (after 1 banking day). I linked it to PayPal, and then checked again my ePrepaid balance and I noticed that the PayPal verification fee was already deducted. I emailed BPI myEprepaid to ask for the 4digit pin and they replied in a matter of 30 minutes! Now I am verified already in Paypal and they already returned the Php100 verification fee. :) I'm from Bulacan, btw. :)

  22. Para sa lahat ng nag-google kung pwede ba ang BPI my ePrepaid sa Paypal (katulad ko):
YES - BPI will work with Paypal. Paypal will charge your eprepaid card Php100 to verify it. You need to get the 4-digit code from your statement and then verify this in Paypal. To get the 4-digit code, you can either call the phonebanker at 89-100 and ask if they see the transactions OR you can enroll you account online at bpiexpressonline.com. (You have to print out a form and either mail it to BPI Main or submit to your bank. Enrollment takes about 2 or 3 business days max and you will see your statement a day or two after.) I found that the transactions are not updated real-time so you will have to wait a day to get the code and verify it on Paypal. HTH!

  23. I am an avid console gamer and I buy PSN card codes online from several vendors using Paypal. Can i use BPI's e-Prepaid card directly to fund my Playstation Wallet so I can buy stuff at the Playstation Store?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. If you can fund your Playstation Wallet using any MasterCard credit card, pwede din with ePrepaid. Pero I heard my restriction daw sa ibang site na kailangan US-issued yung card para tanggapin eh,parang Bath and Body Works sa US. Pag ganun, kahit anong card issued dito, hindi gagana.

  25. I have linked my bpi eprepaid card to my paypal account. The question i have is: how do I add funds to my paypal account using the eprepaid card? I need to add funds to Paypal to convert it to USD so I can pay a virtual worker in USD.

Why Paypal and not some service like Xoom? Because we are using Paypal's invoicing system. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

  27. Hello. Ask ko lang if kung pwede bang mag cash out sa paypal through eprepaid card? Payment kasi siya sakin. Badly needed.

    ReplyDelete
