Philippine Jesuits Ordained as Deacons

One of the most sacred and mystical sacraments of the Catholic church is the Sacrament of Ordination, a journey to Priesthood. But before that, he will have to be ordained, by the bishop (and faithfully serve) as a deacon.

Last Saturday, 7 Jesuit brothers - Cristopher "CRIS" Fajardo, Joseph "JHAW" Haw, Gilbert "NONO" Levosada, Marlito "LITO" Ocon, Alberto "TEX" Paurom, Roy Ragas, Karel San Juan - were ordained to the diaconate by Bishop Teodoro Bacani of Novaliches. He presided over the mass which started at around 08:30am at the Church of the Gesu, Ateneo de Manila University (ADMU).

It was my first time to attend the Diaconate Ordination, and indeed, it was magical in many aspects. I was really trying hold my tears in many parts. The setting and theme was superb. Probably, that is the reason why I fell in love with the Gesu. The flow of the mass and the songs were heartwarming. The vow of chastity and surrender to being a good and faithful deacon by the candidates were really a bold and life-changing decision they took. Finally, after the bishop laid his hands on them, they became part of the celebration of the Holy Eucharist. Truly, it was an awesome and blessed morning for the candidates, their family and friends, and those who have attended the ordination.

P.S. After Fr. Robbie Sian, SJ, Brother Joseph Haw, SJ is the next Jesuit priest who became my teacher back in Xavier School. He was my adviser in 3rd Yr High School. ^^
